Hi,

I'm a new user of Stitcher 4.0. I'm trying to construct a panorama of a large, slow moving barge using a selection of frames from a video sequence. For some unknown reason, while the initial stitched iamge keeps the focus on the side from which you are stitching (I've tried both from left and right), as the panorama moves to the right the initial frames become defocussed. It is even worse in teh rendered image.

Is this a problem with my data? Secondly, why does the manual focus and resolution settings get disabled when once I start stitching? Same thing goes for "Adjust all images". Is there something special to be considered while using video frames?

Any pointers are highly appreciated. I love the software and have excellent results for small 15 frame still photo example panoramas...

Nash,

I realize that 8 months later is a bit belated to answer but I am relatively new here too and I also use video as a source of images to stitch. I think the focus shift you saw in your video frame grabs was caused by your camcorder's auto focus locking onto something in the foreground as you did your pan. When I remember I set my camcorder to manual focus before starting a pan for a stitching set of images.

Of course, that doesn't help after the fact. However, I have had some good results fixing slightly out-of-focus images using Focus Magic. It can also deal with motion blur. Since all of my images need a touch of focus improvement for one reason or another, I routinely use Focus Magic on my video frame grabs.

If you have an update for how you dealt with this problem, let us know. We need to stir up some activity in this section of the forums.
