Dear forum users,

enclosed you'll find a link to an qtvr-panorama, which i made in tokyo a few weeks ago:
http://www.letoile.eu/diverse/ginza@1024px.mov

So far, so good.

But now i want to use the file for further print purposes. If i render the the pano as »cylindrical image«, it appears like that (With cutted roofs):
http://www.letoile.eu/diverse/ginz [...] -test.jpeg

If i render it as an »spherical image«, i'll get a result like this, (With heavily distorted lines):
http://www.letoile.eu/diverse/ginz [...] phere.jpeg

As you may consider, i'm not satisfied with the situation and that brings me to my question:

How can i render the complete panoramic cube in a single cylindrical image-file?

Any ideas?

Best

The short answer is - you can't.

You are trying to project a cylindrical curved surface onto a flat surface. It's why on a map of the world Greenland looks so big... (Actually that's due to Mercator's projection...) but the concept's the same.

My advice is use the distortion to your advantage, like this:

Dear Andrew,

it was not what i would like to hear, but thanks for your reply...;)

I know concept of mercator's projection but i fear i can't use the distortion to my advantage in this case. The cutted roofs will just ruin the picture's impression.
