Hi,

  Nice work kaomr !
Just few questions about your work:
- How many images did you use to capture this door ? and how long did it take ?
- What has been done in IM and what has been done in Maya ?

Thanks for your contribution,

Stef

hi, really nice work with maya & IM! ..the mouse/keyboard-control has a bad handling (maybe it should be more like a normal fly through?) but this was not such a problem to enjoy your scene
--------------------------------------------

@ the development of IM:

i'm also a maya user (3 years experience) and tried to stretch texures from photographs inside maya5.. it's nearly impossible, (because there is a bug that makes disortations if you strech polygon-textures too far) and projection-mapping is'nt usable with many textures..  image-modeler, on the other side, has a bad workflow in relation to maya and i never had the time to get it working well.. so...

"what about a commercial "photogrammetry-plugin" for maya, the actual most open 3D application in the world???"

..it should have some simple features for mapping objects and camera calibration (maybe inside maya-live?) to get some reflections and shadows for compositing with background images (/tracked live footage)
..and it would be enough if this plugin only works for simple, rectangular objects, cause there are no reasons to use photogrammetry for modelling humans in maya!... but it would be a really nice improvement for architectural visualization and techniques like "image based lighting" in mental_ray...

so i hope you filling this "gap in the market" and make my daily work a little bit easier 8)

regards sebastian
