» » John McCarthy | Not a lot of luck following the tutorial. By page 36, I have had to begin several times because of eratic behavior of the program. I added a helper axis and began to pan. The control of the pan was very difficult. As I tried to orient the pan control I noticed that the origin as well as the helper axis began to drift around the room. The program behavior became so erratic that I could only guess that I wasn't starting from scratch when I started a new attempt. I have worked up to page 32 several times now, and it seems that the problems are starting to get worse.
I am wondering if because I am doing a "save as" hoping to overwrite my past work. Maybe I don't get a clean overwrite of the file when I use the "save as" command. I think I will try saving under a different name and see what happends. |
stef | Hello John,
Erratic behavior (in pan and orbit) can come from :
1) a bad calibration
2) the choice of the Up axis (calibration) is different of the Up axis in the preferrences.
If 1) could you post an screenshot were I could see all the calibration features ?
If 2), there are 2 solutions:
- choose by default Y as the calibration up-axis (same as the default Up axis in the prefs)
- change in the prefs the up axis that correspond to your choice for calibration
Hope it helps,

John McCarthy | I can understand the poor calibration issue. I wasn't able to get a score higher than 36%. Than was one of the reasons I had to start over so many times. I'll try again today. |
badders | John,
It's well worth following the video tutorial on calibration. If you follow the recorded sequence, you'll soon see how to calibrate and get above 95% accuracy.

John McCarthy | I'll review the video and see how the calibration differs from what I've read. Try, try again. |
