Hello,
I recently purchased VTour 1.1 and have a requirement to export VTour scenes to .3ds format in order to bring into Cinema 4D.
I devised a workaround in order to do this.
1. Create scene in VTour 1.1 (you must have the latest Collada exporter 1.4.1 file as used in VTour 1.2 - ask Realviz support for the 2 small files, since VTour 1.1 still uses Collada export 1.4)
2. Create your texture mapping by "selecting all polygons for each object rather than selecting the object, then generate each texture (this is important to retain texture mapping).
3. Export your scene to Collada .dae format with Materials checked.
4. Download Blender 2.45 from http://www.blender.org/download/get-blender/ and install
5a. In Blender select File>Import>Collada 1.4 (dae)
5b. Select your file in the Import file field, leave "Only Import Main Scene" selected then click Import and Close button at bottom of viewport. The progress bar will display at top of UI. Once done just move your mouse in viewport and your scene will display.
5c. Still in Blender select File>Export>3D Studio (3ds)
5d. Close Blender
The next step I used my 3D app of choice being Cinema 4D but presume it would work similar for others
6. In Cinema 4D select Open>then locate the 3ds file you just exported from Blender and open.
7. Your scene geometry will come in on its side so you will need to rotate 90 degrees. All objects remain in tact and with their VTour names.
8. Your materials should all appear in the material editor with VTour names in tact.
9. Save your Cinema 4D file, create a "tex" folder and drop your Vtour exported textures into it and then re point your materials to this folder. Your textures should all appear on the geometry.
I know this is quite a workaround but it does work. I also tried using vrml however however it split all objects up into poly groups as per texture splitting so created a lot more work and renamed everything "polygon" so impossible to match textures with objects.
Hope this proves useful
