Page 32 of the user manual refers to setting the X Edge Length field. What is the unit of measurement? Is there anyway to define the world space units of measure as meters, feet etc? Or is it simply a case of whatever you say this value is, everything else is measured to it in the same unit scale?
 
The same paragraph goes on to describe how you can measure the 3D space but I don't see any way to make measurements.

In VTour (in opposite to IM) you cannot set your measurement units, as it is not dedicated for measurements.
The paragraph that speaks about measures is false in the doc.
 
But yes, if you set a ref distance (in a virtual unit) all created object will respect that scale.  
In a certain way you can measure those objects.
