It's all to do with how far away objects are in the scene. The further away they are, the less of an issue stitching errors because of wrong nodal point position. If you're taking shots inside a room, then yes the nodal point position is a requirement and has to be accurate to a tolerance of 1mm or less.

There's no difference in accurancy requirement between fisheye or non-fisheye stitching.

OK, thanks Andrew, so if our tripod worked without fisheye lens then I guess it will work with fisheye.
I'm waiting the FC-E8 lens, when it be in my hands I will make some test by my own and I will put the results here.
bye !

Dear Enrique,

in my humble opinion, fisheye stitching is more critical than multi-row/multi-picture stitching, since the angle covered by each picture is by far less wide for the second, and therefore the "relativ" error less important from one picture to the next.
Even errors may be visible, multi-row/multi-picture stitching still might be possible when fisheye stitching won't!

Also, referring to earlier posts, not only the adapter "thread size" (i.ex. diameter = 28mm) is an important value, but also the "tube length"!
Personally, I am using a FC-E8 with a Coolpix 8400, a "non-conform" combination with an adapter that was not made for this purpous.
Since its length is not correct, I have to manually adjust the focus setting.
This "work around" works for me, but I'm still looking for a FC-E9 and apropriate adapter to do the best job in the easiest way!
Also, I do not get >180° with the FC-E8 and CP8400 for "Dual Stitching", although with another camera, the FC-E8 works fine for DS.
The FC-E9 will give DS capability with my camera...

For all of you, all the best wishes for a happy new near. May the best of the past be the worst of the future!

Kind regards

Tim
