Great!! I've just installed the latest version. And the problem of 5.7.0 eating up system resources (and then crashes) when manipulating stencil handlers has been solved!! Now the memory usage stays very stable at around 57% for me.

Thanks a lot for your great job!! :bounce:

Have a nice day.

a lot of bug fixes like the support of big HDR files, the set render area is working better now, icons are not disappearing anymore in MAC G4/G5...
Less crashes also hopefully...
The Hardware ID is displayed in the Help - activate window, again...

I've got to say that I'm really pleased with the communication that Autodesk has got going on in the forum. A HUGE difference from what we just to get.

Thanks

Well the update doesn't seem to have fixed the GUI problems on PPC machines.
I am running on a PPC G5 with NVideo GForce 6800 card & the buttons still disappear.

Also when rendering pano to jpeg either the last image loaded or the image selected is all that renders correctly the rest render black.

Incredible, thanks auroDesk !
For the first time, I can load 7 hdr fullframe fisheye images without crashing.
Autostitch perfect, hdr rendering ok ... but I've got little black rectangle into my panorama (like a non-activated stitcher with the watermarks but only black coloured).

My stitcher is activated
I haven't got the Stitcher Watermark but only little cropped black rectangle.
Very strange...

Hi,
you are not the first one to report this problem.
Can you send your project and images to stitchersupport@autodesk.com

thanks

Hi to All!

Based on past and current releases of Stitcher it would appear that a public beta might prove valuable for future versions.

Too many bugs appear in the release of even minor updates.

Whatever the current scheme it could stand an improvement.

I've made my own investigation.
I think that this problem occurs only with images bigger than 8000*4000.
(morph and smart mode doesnt't mahe a diffrence).
I've send images to Autodesk support. Hope that you publish a patch quickly as possible.

In fact, I think that the size of the image rendering is not a good way of investigation.
I've just rendered a 4000*2000 HDR image, tonemapping with photomatix.
The rectangular artefact appears.
Maybe a random problem ?

Hi,
we have detected artefacts problems with .hdr renders AND GPU check box checked in the render window.
Can you try to Uncheck the GPU check box or select a .exr render ?

thanks

VERY FRUSTRATING. I hate that I just spent money on an upgrade, and now I am having to scan every single pano I make to find a little black box somewhere. I am moving back to 5.6 until a patch is released. I do not have GPU checked, and have all the GPU options unchecked in teh preferences tab. My size is 400 x 2000 as well.

Ughhh.

No. I want the product to work the way it should. I do not see any significant advantages in the 5.7 version that would lead me to spend time tweaking settings, etc. I will simply avoid the product until it works like it should - out of the box, on the same CPU and the same raw images as 5.6.

I hate to sound bitter. but . . . it seems there is a significant issue with this release.

I think that exr or hdr rendering does not solve the problem
Black box appears in standard rendering with tiff images.

Is there really no official response from Realviz (or Autodesk, now) about the issue of these black boxes in 5.7?

If there is no patch, how do I go about getting my money back?

You don't go about getting your money back I have been trying since Decenber now and no one answers my e-mails. There is still no fix for the QTVR preview button. I am now using Version 4 again. Although Autodesk is now running the show it's still the same idiots employed in the sales and support

I'm a newbie to Stitcher and I have a question of anyone who might have experienced this. I've just upgraded to 5.7.1 (Build:22126) on 2 different computers. My laptop Vista OS is activated and set up to work, however my issue is that I get no image in the Stitching Window after I complete a stitch, nor does the Preview window appear. The small arrow on the lower left of the Preview window is visible and drag-able, but no image appears. My Desktop XP OS does not have this issue. I have the exact same settings/preferences on both computers. Any response or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Jon,
do you have the same graphics-board and drivers on both computers? I suppose not... Vista vs. XP does make a difference!
What about your QuickTime versions on both computers?
Best regards
Tim

Timefx,

Thanks for the response, but I have a wrinkle in this issue that I was unaware of before. I can go into the tutorial folder in the Programs
Files~AutoDesk and loadup the sample photos of the Venitian in Las Vegas and they stitch together like they're supposed to, I have the complete view of it all in the stitching window and the preview window in the upper right... all as it is supposed to be. That indicates to me that it is working correctly. With my own images (and also some I downloaded from Eric Rougier's "FromParis.com" site of the Eiffel Tower) however, the previews don't show up in the stitching window. It will render the project, but that's no good for working with it. Very wierd...
I don't believe that the version of QuickTime factors in as all this is going on prior to any rendering. Thoughts?
Thanks!

Dear Jon,

I think QT is needed by Stitcher even before any rendering. It's worth checking!
What are the differences between your imagesand the tutorial ones?
- file format (JPG, TGA, NEF, RAW)?
- image size in pixels (width/height), color-debth (8/16bit) and weight (kb/Mb)?

Regards

Tim

Tim,
I did download the latest version of QuickTime, but that made no difference. I also believe that I have the latest patches available. My images are no different in format, size, color-depth or weight than the tutorial images. I changed memory settings as well thinking it was a memory issue, but I have 2GB of RAM, so that shouldn't be a problem. It's got to be something simple, but it's not very obvious... I did submit a support request to Autodesk, so I hope they have a solution. Not being able to work in the field on this stuff is a pain. I'll post with any information I get or fixes I discover.
Thanks,
Jon

Dear Jon,

just a thought:
What happens if you copy your images into the folder where the tutorial images are and try to stitch them from there?

Personally, I have never been convinced of neither Windows Vista, nor SU5.7, so I stick with WinXP and SU5.5.2+5.6.2 and am quite happy with that...!

Kind regards

Tim
