» » Nik Milner | Hi all, just a quick question following on from Paul8'query.
How do I link, using hot spots, additional QTVR's without using URL's. I keep getting the "Cannot locate file blah blah" I have a idea which involves a series of links which is in effect a walk through of an establishment. This needs to be put on a CD for the client to see. I note that Immervision are soon to release a Hotspot programme but in the meantime I am a tad baffled. I believe that it is a file naming and/or placement issue. Help/advice would be gratefully received.
Am on PC using Stitcher Unlimited and CS3.
Kind regards,
Nik Milner

badders | Hi Nik,
Yes, it's a file naming convention issue. The simplest way to get everything to work is to put all the files into one folder and reference them all from inside the one folder. This is especially true if you are deploying via CD because drive letters will almost certainly change.
No, you can't create custom hotspot shapes inside REALVIZ Stitcher. You need a 3rd party app like Immervision. ---------------

Nik Milner | Hi Badders, Thanks for your reply. I may seem a little silly here but I don't quite understand what you mean. I have tried saving the 1st qt into a new folder on the desk top then put the second one into the smae folder but it still says that it can't find it. How should I name these files. By Jove it's cold here in canada. Regards, Nik ---------------

Nik Milner | Hi Badders, excuse my lack of knowledge here. What do you mean by reference them all from inside the one folder. I have them all in one photoshop folder but cannot seem to get stitcher to find the next paon. Have dtried by putting them into a new folder on the desk top but everything seems to have capital letters. Also when I open up the properties tag for the hotspot the save as option is greyed out. This really is driving me mad. Maybe I am coming at this from the wrong angle. The user guide is no help at all.

badders | What I mean by "reference them all from inside the one folder" is to put all the images you want to link to into the SAME folder.
Once you've done this, you can define the hotspots to open up each file by adding it's filename to the hotspot properties. Unfortunatly, you can't get Stitcher to search for a file to link to, you have to know the filename and type it correctly.
Not sure what you mean by a "photoshop" folder. Folders on your computer are not program specific.
Not sure why your files have capital letters, unless you've left CAPS LOCK on by mistake.
There's not an option within the hotspot properties window to save as such. You just make the changes and close the window. The actual hotspot properties are saved within the file when you render it out as a QTVR file. Message edited by badders on 10-29-2007 at 04:57:19 PM ---------------

Nik Milner | Ok, all files in same folder when I click on hotspot having selected local under url link then put in next file name as t2 (within same nodal folder) it says 'cannot find file:///I program%20Files/Adobe/Adobe%20CS3/nodal/New%20Folder%20(2)/t2' This is a Windows Internet Explorer window that opens then my Google page opens. So there is a file namimg problem or pointer problem. I am asking it to open in 'Same Window with QTVR checked. The caps thing is just the naming of program files so not an issue and by photoshop I mean where the iamges are stored I.E. in a folder within CS3.
Thanks for your continued help, I hope that once this is sorted that I shall be able to be of assistance to others

badders | Try making a NEW folder on your DESKTOP called something like "test".
Move ALL the files to the new folder and try again. I think it's because your folder naming structure is too complex with too many spaces in the folder directories. ---------------
