» » Hermanator | I am getting fed up with stitcher!
Everytime I try to render, it crashes when it's nearly finished. Rendering to a JPG is possible, however with a little bit of luck. Just trying different memory settings over and over again, and once in a while you get lucky, and stitcher actually manages to finish te rendering process without crashing.
But rendering to a PSD document, is completely impossible for me. I have tried now dozens of times. Put the memory slider on almost every position from 0% to 100%, but every single time, stitcher crashes at 96%/99%. I am highly disappointed at this product! Am I the only one who with this problem?
Is there anything else that I can try to get a PSD render without crashing? |
stitchies | Are you a Windoofs-PC or a PowerPC-Mac-Man or a Intel-Mac-Man?

badders | Simple suggestion I know, but why exactly do do want to render to PSD? ---------------

stitchies | I always render in PSD, because this is the only way to get a seemless highres-pano. With any other tested renderoption no software can make a good highres pano - Stitcher is the best I tried, but it is not perfect. With the PSD-Output I have the opportunity to correct this little missalingments very good.

Hermanator | As stitchies said, PSD render is very useful for correcting small mistakes, due to it's layered output. Unfortunately PSD render results in a crash every single time.
I use stitcher on a Windows XP SP2 PC, with an Intel processor. My system should not be a problem (Core 2 Duo, 2 GB Mem). I have managed to render a PSD, but that only works if I don't use the "Smart" blending. However, without Smart blending, the pano looks a lot worse.
So basically: Smart blending + PSD render = CRASH ! |
badders | So does Smart blending + JPEG (or TIFF) = OK? ---------------

Hermanator | Yes, Smart blending + JPEG works. However usually not at the first try. I have to try a few times, and if I'm lucky, stitcher can finishes rendering the JPG without crashing. |
Leslie Pattison | Hi all,
Hope this helps you.
Me - PowerBook G4 1.5 GHz - 768 MB on 10.4.11 - Stitcher 5.1
I always render to PSD & occasionally get these probs, when I haven't used the prog for a while & I suppose the direct route to the TEMP folder gets written over.
I can sometimes assign the TEMP folder to an external hard drive & speed up the process, but when it crashes I resolve this prob with:
1. Bringing all my jpegs used for the stitch onto a folder, or a few folders deep, onto the Desktop.
2. Go into Stitcher prefs > Memory = 0%
3. Stitcher prefs > External Links > Temporary files - & create a folder "TEMP" straight on Desktop. The window should show ...... HD name:Users:your ID esktop:TEMP:RzTempFiles
4. Then manually choosing all the Render options again.
5. Once again choosing a Filename to make the Render-save sure (directly on Desktop - no folders) - Filename is a single letter (ie "a" ). You can rename after the save in Finder.
6. During the render, go make a cup of tea or something, don't even move the cursor to un-dim the screen.
This method is about 85% fail proof. Touch wood :-)

The smiley shouldn't be there - it's Desktop preceded by a colon.
