Vista 64 stability and Quicktime issues

I have just bought Stitcher Express with a view to exploring the product before buying the full version. I am running Vista Ultimate 64 the product does not seem to be very stable in this environment and the output .mov just displays as a small black rectangle in the top left corner when launched in quicktime viewer - this applies to both Quicktime64 v7.4 and Quicktime32 v7.4.

If I run the .mov on an XP system with Quicktime32 v7.3 it works perfectly.

Should I move to a 32 bit Vista or XP environment and if so how do I overcome the allocation of the exisitng hardware code as part of the activation process. I have two other development machines I could reload the software on.

Any help appreciated.

Hi Jon,

Stitcher Express isn't optimised for Vista 64. You should be using either Vista 32 or XP.

As you're currently running the demo you can install on as many machines as you like. The licensed version runs on one machine only so be happy with which machine you are going to use prior to buying.

Thanks Andrew

I'm running a licensed copy of Stitcher Express I'll try installing it on my Vista 32 box - its a bit of a shame though as I really want to make proper use of my 3Ghz Core 2 Duo with 4GB of RAM the Vista 32 system in only an xp2600 with 1gb RAM.

This is the only product I have come across in four months that does not behave properly on Vista 64. I have the Adobe master collection, the Corel Graphics X3 suite and many other software items installed on my Vista 64 system.

Are there any thoughts about the fact that the QVTR output does not work on Vista 64bit as this means power users won't be able to view panoramas.

Thanks again

Jon

Hi Jon,

All I really know is the software's not been tested under Vista 64 and so at this time, it's not listed as a compatible OS. It may in fact be it does function and there's some other outside influence here, but I believe there's another thread on this forum about Stitcher compatibility under Vista 64. Possibly one of the forum members who's using Vista 64 might be able to throw an insight in here.

No idea at all I'm afraid on QTVR in Vista 64. Wasn't even aware there was a problem!
