» » Firefly7071 | I have a Realtor that wants a VT, but she complains that with QuickTime, you have to download a viewer and that is a pain. I thought that I could just export my Realviz tour as an AVI import to Flash, and then export as a swf. has anyone done this? Does it work ok? |
jobes | i don't think that'll work. if it did, i think there would've been more examples of flash panos around before now.
i have to convert my equirectangular outputs using a 3rd party application, which allows me to create flash 8 or 9 .swfs which can be viewed as a panorama. perhaps this is a feature which stitcher will offer in the future. till then you'll have to use another app as well! |

seems to have attracted a following... think this will be my route sooner than later. The actual conversion appears to be very simple... but apparently getting into the hotspots scenario (along with quite a few very cool features that QTVR cannot do easily, if at all) requires rolling up your sleeves and getting into some XML.
I've seen some great quality Flash VR output from this Flash Panorama Player at various sites. ---------------

The most common way to play virtual images in the real estate industry is with one of the Java Viewers. The biggest host/distributer of virtual tours is Homestore/Move's Picturepath.com which supports PTViewer compatable images (Equirectangular Projections saved as JPEGs), iPIX and the iSeeMedia output.
They use these formats for the reason your Realtor complained about; Java, like Flash, is already on most computers and doesn't need a viewer to be downloaded and installed.
RealViz calls an Equirectangular Projection "Spherical" ---------------

jobes | hey jim i was trying to avoid the potential wrath of realviz by plugging another product, but as you've started, i'll continue ...
i have evaluated FPP, but found it was a little less easy to use than a true non coder like i would like. it can do loads, but eventually i bought http://gardengnomesoftware.com/pano2vr.php
which is very easy to use, and requires no code. here's an example i put together recently: custom controller, branded interface, and hotspots. no coding required!

badders | Firefly, to come back to your first post, if you want to record the VT to an AVI movie then import that into Flash for export to .swf the answer is yes, you can do that.
This will give you a VT movie without any interaction but it will operate as a self running sequence. ---------------

Firefly7071 | Thank you all for your input. A few weeks ago, I knew absolutely nothing, so I have been trying to read as much as I can. I am way out of my league. I am going to check out the java viewers at Homestore/Move's Picturepath.com. You are all so talented!!! |
