I have Realviz StitcherUnlimited 5.6. When I try to render a cubic QTVR out, I click on "QT Movie Settings" and press "QTVR Preview" to set the FOV etc. It crashes everytime. Has anyone experienced this? Solutions?

Thank you

Hi Trever,

Install the 5.6.1 patch, which will fix this:

PC - EN/FR (8.64MB):
ftp://ftp.realviz.com/private/ST5_6/STU561_patch.exe

MAC - English (16.1MB):
ftp://ftp.realviz.com/private/ST5 [...] tch.dmg.gz

But I'm afraid it onlt fixes the crash. As of writing, 5.6 & 5.6.1 don't allow you to set the QTVR preview values I'm afraid.

Let me get this straight. So the patch just greys out the "QTVR" Preview button? If so, is there a way to set the entry point (or what direction the pano opens to) in StitcherUnlimited?

Thanks again

Yes, the patch (amongst other things) removes the button operation, thereby preventing the app from crashing.

You can still assign the entry point fov, max/min zoom & pan/tilt values manually, just not interactively via the click and drag preview window.

Whilst waiting for Realviz to fix Stitcher, I use Pano2QTVR to do the interactive parameter settings.

Andrew
I've been using the Demo of 5.5 and haven't had any of the recent crop of problems in Unlimited 5.6.

If I decide to buy, can I just activate the 5.5 I have or do I have to get 5.6.

It seems like RealViz released 5.6 before they had the bugs worked out and is using paying customers as involuntary beta testers.

I think you should go with 5.6. I'd have to disagree with your comments regarding using customers as beta testers. I've not got one piece of software that hasn't got some issues with it and this latest version, 5.6 has some great features not least of which is the significant speed increase in rendering, especially for Mac users.

Overall, the 5.6.1 release has a lot more going for it than the 5.5. (IMHO)

chen4490,

Yes I see it's still there. I've posted a request for this to be re-implimented back to the REALVIZ developers. In the meantime, take a look at Immervision Puretools. If you export from Stitcher as a spherical, you can import into Puretools and set your QTVR initial viewpoint, plus add a lot of other useful features that you don't have with the standard QTVR export function in Stitcher.
