Hi to All!

I have just been experimenting with the new "Mobile Me" (was .Mac) Gallery feature.
It works with QTVRs, pictures, movies etc.

http://gallery.me.com/wdd3#100007& [...] lack&sel=0

The QTVR is the second image in the series ("Brix QTVR" ) - a private dining room.

In the lower left hand corner there are different viewing modes. The initial mode in the above example is set to "Carousel" (Cover Flow).

The Gallery interface is a drag'n drop operation - works very smoothly.

Occasionally the QTVR will not play (error message shows); by clicking to another image and then back it reloads properly (or alternately, refresh the page).

The QTVR will not play in Slide Show mode which displays full screen (none of the images I've included in this example are high enough res for this format style).

Hi to All!

I am finding the "Mobile Me" (Me) Gallery to be quite an effective presentation.

Have started to work on a polished interface:
http://web.mac.com/wdd3/iWeb/ME%20 [...] Trial.html
(Update: The new URL for this demo is now located here.)

Do the QT vetting on a web page, then move into Me.

Once you have a confirmed QT viewer anything is possible within the limits of hundreds of QT commands.

So far all QT calls are working (using LiveStage as the authoring tool).

In the example above, if you swing to the left (once you are in the QTVR movie) you can play a video (click on the tank just to the left of the stairwell), or if you swing to the right you can "play" the tanks (by clicking on them) - four total.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the tips. Using MobileMe gallery to display QTVRs is a great idea.
So, i've tried it with 2 basic panoramas : http://gallery.me.com/virtual_ready

I confirm the "bug" : Quicktime is not playing QTVRs the first time it tries to display them.
Is it related to the fact QTVR uses a specific type of controller ?
I hope Apple will correct this little bug…

Regards

Hi Philippe and all!

This is strange - on your QTVR album Philippe - I had the "Won't load problem" (the "Refresh" button on the browser fixes things - but this is awkward of course). However on my QTVR Album this problem is now gone - at least on my browser. (Noticed the custom addition to your VRs)

Possibly this might be a QuickTime problem. With some versions of QuickTime people have reported the same type of problem when viewing normal web pages - won't load and need to refresh. This situation has something to do with the "QuickTime Plugin.webplugin" which apparently is an appendage and the "QuickTime Plugin.plugin" is all that is actually needed. For those that dumped the "QuickTime Plugin.webplugin" the "won't load" problem disappeared. Think I'll try this and see if it makes a difference on your QTVR album.

BTW: the new URL for my QTVR Album (starts on a "regular" web page) is here.
the old URL is history.

The "Fermentation Tanks QTVR" on this Album is wired (interactive) it plays a video and also allows you to "play" the fermentation tanks. I've added an "Intro Screen"; a "Show Hot Spots" button in the lower left corner of the QTVR window - along with a hot spot message box, and a "status bar" for the video.

The video is a "child movie" linked URL, so you can add video, etc. in the QTVR itself without adding to the QTVR file size.

==============
I have however come across a repeatable bug definitely with the ME Gallery itself concerning "wired" QTVRs in an album (and possibly any wired QT movie - haven't tried a regular wired video yet).

This bug only occurs when the "Carousel" viewing mode has been used. The "Grid" & "Mosaic" do not show it - unless the "Carousel" mode is used in the mix somewhere. You can control the "default" viewing mode by linking to the URL of a particular viewing mode for an album. The standard "default" is grid of course.

The Album opens up fine, but after viewing a given QTVR (or a couple) and then hitting the "Return to Album" button the JPEG proxy image duplicates itself or creates a completely grey JPEG image added to the rest of those in the album. I've reported this to Apple.

Hi Philippe and all!

Well I pulled the "QuickTime Plugin.webplugin" from my Library, leaving only the "QuickTime Plugin.plugin".

A very interesting result...

All the QTVR panos on a variety of "normal" web pages played as they should - but the QTVRs on the Mobile Me Gallery pages (using both my album and Philippe's as trials) refused to work - they acted like still images. On my QTVR, which contained the wired video, the audio portion of the video started to play but without an accompanying video image.

So it seems the "QuickTime Plugin.webplugin" is not just an appendage, it does have a function for at least some QT content on a web page.

:wahoo: With your Fermentation Tanks QTVR, you've done a really nice job, Jim !
But, since i read this forum, i've understood you master Livestage and Quicktime.
By the way : my custom addition in my panoramas is, in fact, due to the presence of hotspots in the original QTVR  ;)

My "won't load problem" has also disappeared… this is weird because i've not change anything in my configuration (i use the last Quicktime 7.5 with safari 3.1.2 on the 10.4.11 version of MacOS).
My MobileMe gallery (and yours) works also as expected on Firefox 3.0.1 for MacOS
