Hi, I  created a cylindrical image of the interior of a Corvette Stingray which has stitched seamlessly from 6 shots (Nikon D2X 10.5 mm) but when creating a cubic having added and positioned venus and nadir there is a missalignment at the right hand side of the steering wheel, mirror and sun visor. The images are on www.NikMilner.creativesource.ca if you wish to have a look. I have tried redoing the cubic but always with the same result. Any pointers?

Hi Nik!

Without being able to view the source images & the Stitcher file itself it is hard to make precise conclusions.

Based on the Stingray QTVR on creativesource I would say you have an error with the NPP (Non-Parallax Point) - also known as the "nodal point" or "entrance pupil".

Not only are the steering wheel, mirror, etc. showing some major ghosting problems - but so is the passenger seat (side nearest the driver), fastener to the left of the dome light, door handle on driver side.

Typically these ghosts, scattered about the QTVR in this fashion, are indicative of the fore mentioned NNP error.

Even if your panohead settings worked with a cylinder, the top/bottom cap shots (zenith/nadir) impose much tighter geometric requirements for a cubic projection.

There are other possibilities, but the first suspect is your NPP setting.

BTW: Your "personal project" images on the creativesource site are very striking IMO -
the cyanoprints particularly.

Thanks for your note Jim, I am doing a series of tests for NPP today. The head I am using is a Roundshot VR motorised unit, this enables me to set the timer, close the door of the car and walk away.

Glad you like the cyanotypes.

Regards, Nik.

Hi Jim, you were quite right. the actual forward/back measurements on my head were out by some 9mm. It now works and am off to shoot 4 more cars tomorrow. thanks again.
