Hi capirossi!

You do not state whether you are trying to use the QT Player for the hotspot linking, but if this is the case: Stitcher's hotspot feature only works with the QuickTime plug-in, not the QT Player (back in v4.xx it did work with the QT Player I don't know why this capability was removed).

Assuming you are working with the plug-in - the advice in the manual I have found to be accurate (see "Linking hotspots" in the manual). If you are having a problem in spite of selecting the "QTVR" checkbox and using the default selection of "Same QT Plug-in" in the hotspot dialog (in "Properties" ) - then the pathway that you typed for the link in the text entry field (next to the "URL Link" drop-down list) would be the most likely suspect.

Some Notes:
-----------------
I keep my linked movies in the same directory on the server as the HTML page the originating movie is on, and so I use the "Local" option (i.e. a relative pathway) for the URL Link drop-down. This way I just have to enter the name of the QTVR movie I wish to link to, not the entire pathway, which keeps things simple.

I do not use Stitcher's hotspot feature normally, I use CubicConnector (Mac only) from Click Here Design: http://www.clickheredesign.com.au/software/

Jim
I wasn't aware there was a QuickTime Plug-In that was different than the QuickTime Player.

Where would I download the Plug-In from?

Hi Doug!

If you have QuickTime installed on your computer then you should have the QT plug-in also, which is the web component of the QuickTime Player, installed as part of the whole QT package.

If you can view QTVRs on the web it is definitely installed.

The "QT Player" is the local app for your computer, which in the "unlocked" form - the QT Pro Player ($29.95, from Apple) - has quite a bit of edit functionality for the money.

Jim
What it sounds like you're saying is there is no "QuickTime Plug-In" just the QuickTime Player and that Hotspots in a QTVR image only work from a webpage environment?

Hi Doug!

There is a "plug-in" - a separate component from the Player - that loads into your system and is used, as you noted, in a webpage environment. The Player is used only for your local (non-web) computer environment.

QTVR hotspots can work in both the Player and the plug-in (web) environments, but for some reason Stitcher allows hotspot connections only using the plug-in. I've briefly tried manipulating the XML of the .rzs files to change this behavior but was not successful - perhaps someone with solid XML skills could.

Both plug-in & Player work in concert with the overall QuickTime system-level architecture.

So...
It is possible to code the QT plug-in (web page) to tell the QuickTime architecture to show a movie in the QT Player instead of using the plug-in; i.e. rather than the movie playing on the web page itself via the plug-in, the QuickTime Player can be told to open and play the desired movie - separate from the browser environment.

And...
You can directly access URLs from the QuickTime Player itself (assuming that the URL is a format that QuickTime can read such as MPEGs, JPEGs, QT movies, Mp3's, etc.).

Look under the "File" menu in the Player you will see "Open URL..."
