Hi, I've come back to Stitcher for the first time in a few years and I seem to remember being able to export a Cylindrical TIFF, edit it in PS, then bring it back into Stitcher and turn it into a Cylindrical QTVR file. When I bring it back now (using load Panorama), my only options are:

Cubic QTVR
Pure Player Cubic
Cubical Image
VRML

I want to export a Cylindrical QTVR.

I'm using 5.6U OSX but I haven't used it since 3.5. Is there still a way to do this?

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Dan!

Importing a Cylinder TIFF and converting to Cylinder QTVR works on my set-up.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the reply. Do you have the full list of options in the 'Type' drop down list after you import the TIFF? Also, do you open the TIFF as a project or just import it as an image?

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Dan!

I normally don't do cylinders... and possibly this could have an impact on our results.

When I saw your question hanging on the forum for a while I did a quick cylinder export from one of my projects (used to create sphericals). I deleted the top/bottom cap shots  - of no use in a cylinder - and did a TIFF export. Then I re-imported this cylinder TIFF back into Stitcher ("Load Panorama..." ) and rendered a cylinder QTVR.

And this gets us back to my first sentence - maybe Stitcher does not recognize your "old" cylinder TIFFs as cylinders (if I read your original post correctly you are using previously rendered TIFF cylinders).

My export options (upon loading a cylinder TIFF) are: "Cylindrical QTVR" & "Pure Player Cylindrical".

As a trial you could e-mail me one of your low-res JPEG cylinders (<5 MB) and I'll give it a go:
wdd3@comcast.net

p.s. I know you are interested in TIFF files - but I don't think a JPEG should be a problem and the file size will be more reasonable. I will convert any JPEG you send to TIFF just to confirm this is not an issue.

Hi Jim,

I went to export a jpeg for you to have a look at but I realised that I hadn't been actually selecting my own 'Define Render Area', I was just leaving it as the default whole area because I thought I'd work on the whole thing in PS, then select my own render area after bringing it back into Stitcher. This turned out to be the problem. I seems that if you don't actually select an area, it thinks it's a full 360 image, and so limits your render options as such. I did it properly this time and it worked.

Thanks very much for your help though and offering to have a look at the image for me, greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Dan
