Hi all

Can someone please tell me if it is at all possible to make 360 panoramas with a Canon D 20 and a Canon 10-22 lens. I have a Panosaurus and a manfrotto tripod but when i try to make a 360 using stitcher express the top segment of the 360 is missing is this due to me or is the equipment not up to the job. If it is possible is there a tutorial available for the equipment listed above.
Your help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Dave

Hi,
i work with canon 400d and a 10-22mm.. should be the same:
Three rows of pictures with six pictures per row (6 is only with min three rows possible) at 10mm.
row 1: 0 degree -> row 2 and 3 with +- 50 degree and you get the whole area..
additional one pic at the bottom to erase the tripod afterwards..
ends up with 19 pics for a full panorama.. (and work with 50 percent size ratio if you don't have an 8-core with 10 Gig of Ram..)

Greetings
Chris

Chris
I have a Canon 400D (In the USA we call it the XTi) and a Canon 10-22mm wide-angle zoom.

Are you shooting the six pictures per row with the camera in portrait or landscape position?

you can also do 6 photographs at +30degrees & 6 at -30 degrees (and one for zenith and nadir) - makes 12 or 14 together.
Everything portrait

Many thanks guys

That all seems to work fine best result is row 1: 0 degree -> row 2 and 3 with +- 50 degree but on some images on the top row there sometimes is a tiny segment missing. Any ideas?

Is the segment that missing symetrical?

Like a hexagon? If so, you're just not reaching that area. Although I can't imagine you aren't getting the zenith with a 10-22mm at 10mm in portrait position with a tilt up of 50°

What I have been finding is that at tilt up 50˚ I have to do more than 6 images otherwise i get non symetrical  segments missing> I have found that I in some cases have to do 8 or 12 images round 50˚up to get a perfect result

I think you need more shots around.

Six is what the Nikkor 10.5 fisheye needs with the camera in portrait position, plus a Zenith and Nadir, and its a fisheye with a wider field of view than the Canon 10-22mm which is aspherical and looses some of the image when it straightens all the curves this wide a lens would normally have.

I'm thinking Stitcher Express is struggling with just barely enough coverage, more shots should fix it

Good luck

Hi,
i shoot all my panoramas in portrait and there is definitive no part missing! - Panorama head: NN3
@dejaurand - the only thing i can imagine is a problem by using landscape format - there is plenty of overlapping in portrait mode.. interesting the ± 30º method of stitchomat - would be good for the final file size.
