| hi,
does the retimer SD have the ability to keyframe slow downs and speeds in the same clip, like in the standard version...??
so, for example, I have the first 10 frames playback at half the speed, then ramp up to accelerate to twice the speed of the orginal, then
slow it down to the normal speed...
just like your Retimer 2.5 video demo of the BMX biker on your website.
thanks

| Hi Chris,
This is definetely possible to achieve the effect you are mentioning with retimer SD. If you are used to Retimer "stand-alone", simply let's say that you can make the retime factor(the speed) keyframable and animate it through time, giving you a total control throughout the sequence. Using the "Frame Matching" method (you put in correspondency frames from the output with frames from the input), you can even produce reverse-mapping or ping-pong effects which is not doable in Retimer "stand-alone".
If you already have a version of Retimer SD, here is a way to proceed:
Let's assume that you retime at half the speed at frame 0; you go twice the speed at frame 10, and at frame 20 you get back to a normal speed.
Simply set your retiming method to "Slow Down"
Make the "Retime Factor" field keyframable and:
at time 0 set its value to 2. (twice slower)
at time 10 set its value to 0.5. (half slower = twice faster!)
at time 20 set its value to 1. (normal speed)
That's it! Retimer SD will now make the interpolation for you to have a smooth speed transition.
What can be tricky to get is that slowing down with a factor of 0.5 is strictly similar to speeding up with a factor of 2.
Let me know if that helps... |
