hi guys.  In 2D mode i can not see anything in the main video window eccept gray.  The magnifyer window looks like its working correctly.  If I switch to 3D mode the image on the video window shows correctly and plays fine.  I just cannot see anything in 2D mode.

can you please post further informations:
- what kind of video-file?
- what codec?
Can you post a link to the clip and *.mmf-file on ftp?
Did you try an update of your graphic-driver?

It might be an issue of your graphics adapter.
Try the following and see if it fixes your problem:
- open the preferences (P)
- select the "image/cache" tab
- check the "dispaly 3D textures in 2D mode" box
