» » 3dvizer | Im relatively new to matchmoving, and when I need to use such software for a particular project I usually tend to use Boujou 4 which is great.
However Ive recently been evaluating MM4, and its been a nightmare to say the least. Its great for speedy calculations and camera solves, but the camera data it kicks out is rubbish.
Im importing the camera into Cinema 4D, but the camera path is all over the place. When I view it in 3D within MM, the path spikes like crazy all over the place even though the DV footage is very stable. This means that when its imported into C4D, its a complete waste of time.
Im using the auto tracker in MM as its an easy solve Im trying to achieve, so whats the problem here. Im sure MM4 is a great package but at this rate, I wont be buying it.
Grateful for any suggestions please.

3dvizer | Okay, Ive improved things slightly. Im now placing manual tracks where I need them, then running the auto tracker to firm things up.
When I play the image sequence within MM the tracks are aligned / track perfectly.
However, once Ive done the camera solve and rendered an output movie to check for accuracy, the 3D helpers are sliding all over the place and do not stay in place like the tracks did.
What am I doing wrong here... its starting to get really frustrating!

3dvizer | Well... Ive gave up. Ill be spending my money with 2D3 ( Boujou ) as after wasting days on days with MM4 I just can figure it out.
Its a shame because Im sure its superb, but it really isnt very user friendly and appears to have a very steep learning curve whereas Boujou 4 is the complete opposite.
Cheers,

niko | Hi,
Do you mean that you don't have the same results in checking the 3D result in MM, locked on camera,
than you have when rendering the scene?
Did you try to solve the camera using only manual tracks, without running the auto tracker?
Regards,
Niko
