Strange Frame Playback Behavior

Hi! I'm not really sure whether I've done something incorrectly or not, but I have an .avi file I'm working on. It's in an interlaced frame format, 720 pixels wide and 486 pixels high. The sequence loads just fine, and plays back OK, but after running the tracker on it the video does not play back correctly. The track cursors seem to be OK, but the underlying frame data is not correct at all. Could this be a problem with a codec incompatibility (seems unlikely, I know, since it loads and plays at first). Has anybody else ever noticed behavior like this? Thanks for any help offered!

Hello.
Can you detail a little bit your settings:
What is your version/build number of MatchMover, your video card, and your footage format ?
Is it only on this sequence ?
Is it systematic ?
If you can send us a few frames and/or a screenshot of your corrupted display, it may help.
Thanks

Hi Ronald,

I have an nVidia card, and am using MatchMover 3.1 Pro (the Addendum included with the CD is dated Nov. 10, 2004). As far as I can tell the problem is only occurring when I try to process an interlaced .avi file which I've created using Discreet's Cleaner XL program. The problem doesn't seem to be systematic, sometimes the file loads and plays just fine, but sometimes the frames are out of order. However, it can always be seen if you run the autotracking on the sequence on one of these interlaced .avi files.

Update: I was about to send you a link to this (huge) file when I decided to make the file smaller so you wouldn't be waiting so long to upload it. I found out that if I read this .avi file in with Jasc Animation Shop and just save it again (as another .avi) MM works fine with it! Apparently, not all .avi files are the same. In any case, I have a workaround so everything's OK for now. Thanks!
