Static Object Seem to Move Throughout Animation

Hello,

Using:
MatchMover Pro v.3.0
(going to be out putting to 3DS Max 7 later)

Problem Discription: Some objects stay in one place while others seem to slide.  Notice the dihedron object in the pictures (circled in red).  At the start frame the object seems to be sitting on the white box as if it were its roof-top.  When I play through the animation the object slides over and off the white box and ends up to the side as in the end frame image.

1) How come the plane objects at the bottom do not shift while the object at the top does?

2) What is causing this and how can this be fixed?

PS. I would uplaod my ppj along with the image sequence if someone could guide me as how to do this if needed to fix this problem.

Thank you in advance!! :P

Hi,

How did you set up the 3D position of the dihedron... Did you use 3D tracks or was it visually aligned only ?
Maybe the 3D tracks at the top of the box are not accurate enough: are the corresponding 2D tracks long enough ? If some of them are split, you can select them all and merge them back into one single track that will have a better accuracy then.

How to proceed to upload:

Please don' t use a client FTP,

In a command prompt:

ftp  ftp.realviz.com
login:  anonymous
password:  your email
cd  incoming
cd  support
bin
put  your_files.zip

The directories cannot be browsed but they are here and can be accessed.

Best Regards,

Thank you for the reply! :)

I sent the ZIP file, it is called 'Sliding_Objects_Problem.zip'

In responce to your questions:
The dihedron was visually aligned.  How do you use 3D tracks?  Is that how you are supposed to align objects?  I'm not sure I fully understand
the implication of 3D tracks to fix this problem.  What do you mean by if the 2D tracks are long enough?  How do you merge 2D tracks for better results?
Is this information found in the help files?

I am a novice to the program so could you write up the procedure on how you fixed the problem so that in the future I will be able to fix this if it occurs again...it seems to be occuring everytime for me.

Thanks!!!

Hi.
The problem is that the dihedron is not well align in 3D.
Look at the screen shot.
What I did is first manually extend the 2D tracks that correspond to the corners of the box, thus it made them more accurate in 3D (do not forget to set up the interlacement in the sequence parameters)
Then I placed the object in the 3D view, by aligning it with the corresponding 3D tracks.
Hope this help

Hello,
I want to thank you so far for helping me out on my problem.  Yes I just have a few further questions.

1) You metioned that you first manually extend the 2D tracks to the corner of the box. (Are these tracks the ones that the automatic 2D traker made?)  I tried that but I'm not sure if I'm doing it right.  Can you describe how that's done? (I notice I can drag new tracks when I click & drag from the corners of objects...is that what you mean here by 2D tracks?)

2) And the aligning part, so lets say I have my 2D tracks on the corners of my box in the background image, do I then manually drag the dihedron up to thoes tracks, are they supposed to snap onto them?

Hope you can help me out,
Thanks again :D
