Im evaluating MM Pro 4 at the moment and comparing it to other tracking software to see how it measures up.

The system Im running it on is a powerful one, 2gb ram, 350gb hd, twin P4 processors etc, yet the MM software brings it almost to a halt!

Its quick on auto tracking, and camera solve etc, but when I go into the 3D preview and try to manipulate the data ( i.e. pan, zoom, orbit etc ) the whole system locks up.The quicktime footage Ive loaded as my sequence is only 300f in length as well.

Is this a common problem or are there settings that can fix this annoying problem?

Many thanks,

Nick

Hi Nick,

I have run into this problem several times already (I'm a freelance Movematcher working at different post-prod. facilities):
It seems, this is related to your graphic-board driver. Sometimes, a simple driver-update will do (unfortunatly, sometimes it won't!).
To unlock your system, you mostly just need to minimize the MMpro window and then re-open it again (no need to exit MMpro).
Also, this mostly happens, when you try to rescale for ex. your 3D view while your graphic board is still calculating. Little pauses after each of these action may help (though I woudln't call this a "work-around"!)
Try a graphics-board driver up-date first (eventually also test the "before-latest" driver)
I hope this helps... (that 2007 will be a HAPPY year for you...! :-)
Best regards
Tim

Youre a genius Tim, thanks.

Should have thought of that one myself, but never mind, problem solved now so I can get back to evaluating the program properly.

Cheers,

Nick

Greetings,

Another note. I have had issues with using the latest driver for my Nvidia board. I would get horrendous delays with the activities you mentioned. I downgraded to a lesser versioned driver and it worked OK. Recently in an effort to identify the specific issues I went to the latest driver and ran through different iterations of configurations. One setting that I found hosed MM was the Dualview mode in the NV control panel. When I went to the horizontal span setting, the lockups went away (yeah). Now, though, I have a corruption with the draw function when making new tracks ahhhhh....

The biggest pain in uninstall/reinstall experiments is that it hoses my desktop icon layout (thanks MS)

Good luck, and if anyone else has some tips for driver/configs I would be very appreciative.

Track this! :)

I got the same problem too. I got a Nvidia board.

That's happen when I am using the shortcut to navigate in my viewport.
If I use the naviagtion button It does not happen.

That's really annoying and just kill my workflow.

Any tips, drivers/config would be appreciated.

Dear Harry,
as mentioned before, try a graphic-board driver update first and download also the "before last". I'm not a REALVIZ programmer, so unfortunatly I don't know which configs causes problems. As a user on different machines, up to now, I always managed to get MMpro work smoothly with the right driver installed.
Best regards
Tim
