Problem with tracking HD shots

Hi,

I have some shots in HD resolution(1920x1080, tga) and I'm not able to track them. After I ran automatic tracking and camera is solved the result is too bad. There are a lot of grey auto track, some yellow and hardly any green one. But when the same footage is resized and croped to PAL resolution(720x576),  the result is much more better. Now most of auto track are green and the movement of camera is almost as in the real.

I will really appreciate any help, Thanks

Hi,

Sounds strange to me...
Can you send me few frames of your HD sequence?
The first ones for example.

Since the aspect ration of the 2 footages is different, the HD sequence got cropped and therefore the information content of the 2 footages is different. This will have an effect on mmp.

But the fact it solves the reduced footage better is weird.

Before doign the auto track, you should reduce the size of the feature and search area boxes.

In the automatic tracking of the HD footages your features and serach areas might be too small.

Say they are set to be 30 pixels wide/tall and 50 pixels for the serach area.
These setting might be too small for the HD footage but appropriate for the resized one....

As a quick test, autotrack the HD footages but in the preferecnes double the default values of the search area and pattern size (under 2D tracking tab)
