» » oglop | i'm doing a matchmoving test. here is my workflow
1. shoot the footage with canon hf10 in 60i mode
2. deinterlace in premiere, output image sequence, the project settings i used is 1920x1080 square pixels , 60
3. import into matchmover, the footage fps i supposed to select 29.97fps no field?
4. track the footage, and it comes to maya, but i found in maya time settings, there is no 29.97 only 30, will my tracking points align with the image sequence after 1000 frames ?
5. and when it comes to compositing stage, which frame rate should i use for the project? ( i guess it's 29.97 ?)
but the images i rendered out from maya would be 30fps, what should i do in after effects, just interpret the footage as 30 fps, and ae will automatically deal with this ?
Hopefully someone would shed some light on me . |
timefx | Dear oglop,
- what is your output from Premiere? It should be 30p
- in MM it then should be 30p, non-interlaced
- as in Maya
- as your comp in AfterFX
You may then render out from AFX as 60i-29,97
Best regards

oglop | my output in premiere is 29.97, is this where the problem arise?
why i should export as 30, in fact ntsc is 29.97 isn't it? i read the book of Tim Dobbert, and he emphasized not to change the frame rate . |
timefx | Dear oglop,
29.97 is a broadcast (distribution) frame rate (also refered to as "30fps drop frame" ) not a production fps.
For post-production purposes other than just cut-editing, I'd rather recommend 30 fps.
Best regards
