» » lukas | hi guys .......... i realized that the main difference between the two products is that movimento can handle multiple cameras shots at the same time ...so can we calibrate our shots using matchmover and then export calibration into movimento ???
|
syam | hi friends, is it true that we can track the camera in MM and later we can export to Movimento? ---------------

timefx | Absolutely! You may even directly OPEN a MM.mmf file with MVM.

syam | hi, Tim i'm gonna shoot with 3 to 4 cameras shot for my demo in that i planned to shoot with 2 fixed cameras and 1 moving how to use fixed and moving cameras calibration in one scene, 1st auto calibration for fixed and 2nd static points tracking manualy for the moving camera, but how do i know moving camera location in the 3d world in realtion with fixed cameras, could you get an idea on this plz?

syam | hi, Tim one more question that can i do calibration for fixed cameras manually other than auto calibration. if so, how to do it? placing static point to be tracked manually? looking forward for ur reply syam ---------------

timefx | Dear Syam,
unless you have "studio-conditions" (i.ex. a bluescreen-stage) I wouldn't go for "auto-calibration".
- make sure you have enough static points (min. 8, better around 25+, equally dispatched in the capture-space: not only on the walls and ground, put also on poles (above ground-level!) in the fore- and mid-ground!) visible by as much of your cameras as possible (static or moving)
- position manually your trackers on all of these points in all of your cameras (don't worry if some points are not seen by all cameras, but nevertheless: the more cameras see the same tracks, the better your calibration!)
- if it's a static camera, you only need to put one track for the whole timeline
- if it's a moving camera, you'll need to track this point for the whole timeline as in MatchMover (I recommand bi-directional tracking ("F4" )!)
- once you're done, run a solve ("F9" ) before placing your "motion tracks" and save as *mvm-file.
- motion tracks may help the solve, but sometimes, you'll want to "lock" your calibration and rather "refine" it ("Shift-F9" ) than "resolve" ("F9" ) it!
What build are you using (Help > About > bottom-line)?
Best regards

syam | hi, Tim thanks alot for your valuable ideas, i did yesterday couple of shots that have moving and static cameras. total of 4 cameras, 2 are same kind of cameras which is Nv MD 9000 EN and 1 3ccd canon DM XM1e, 1 panasonic 3ccd 10a i guess.
for your information, my environment is just like a studio type where i setup the program for that i have used greenscreen and on it i stuck yellow paper for some matchmoving shot.
but, Tim i didnt understand one thing that you have mentioned above that for static not for the entire timeline why is it like that? that static camera doesnt have any parallax to identify the 3d environment of my scene in real world when it doesnt move, how is it possible that the static camera will be able to get the position & orientation, focal length of that particular camera, could you explain on it. if we track just for one frame.
actually i used 2 tripods for static camera, for calibration purpose, i used 1mt pipe on it stuck 5 ping pong ball. after calibration shot was done i did shoot a clip and i used another 2 camera not static but as you said above not just background of greenscree even i maintained some parallax for better perspective using some pipe like stuff where i can feel the good parallax.

syam | hi, Tim,
actually i didnt get you, what do you mean by this statment "if it's a static camera, you only need to put one track for the whole timeline"
do you mean this that from every static camera view we need to track only one or 8 min
i guess that i posted prior to this may not be the right one to ask, i was confused, if you feel that was a right question to you can answer. but i posted it for your better understanding other than that question, never mind.

syam | hi, Tim, actually i was confused about i only need to put one track for one frame. that's the reason i asked that question
for this line only i misunderstood "if it's a static camera, you only need to put one track for the whole timeline, plz never mind.

timefx | Dear Syam,
you'll need at least 8 tracking points for each camera, but if it's a static camera, you don't need to track them over time, since every track should have the same 2D-coordinates all along your take (as for moving cameras, you'll need to track/redetermine their 2D-coords for every frame of the timeline).
In practice, put at least 8 tracks for each camera, but you only need to do so at 1 frame (no tracking needed "F3", "Shift-F3", "F4" or "Shift-F4" needed!)
I hope this makes it clearer.
Best regards
