Exporting 2d tracks as 3d tracks on a flat plane

I have footage of a face performing with tracking dots on it - filmed exactly from the front.

The head is not moving, only the facial muscles.

I want to track those points and import them into maya as simple 3d points, just moving on a flat plane. Can this be done?

So far I've tracked the points and put them in a "non-rigid" group for mocap. But I can't solve for camera, or turn the 2d tracks into "flat" 3d tracks, or export the whole thing to Maya.

Any ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

For non rigid deplacement, you need to do motion capture, that implies using several cameras, if you want to recover the 3D depth of each track.

In your case, if you want them to lie on a plane, you simply need the 2D path of each tracks and export that into maya as a moving point. You should be able to write a script within Matchmover to export just the 2D path of your track into a maya format

If you need sample of such scripts, we can provide some

Thanks.
