Hi

I am wondering why there is no export option for .ascii

Combustion will import .ascii files which can affect the position of objects.

MatchMover has an ascii type export but does have the .ascii extension?!

Also Matchmover has a number of presets for camera settings

What would be really useful more so than lens information would be a library of ccd/sensor sizes for particular cameras?

Where MM can go really wrong is when you enter a constraint that is not perfect (this screws with the solve)

Trying to find ccd/sensor sizes for the cameras I am using is hard as they are usually expressed as 3/4 inch chip etc.......... fine

But what this means is a camera that is shooting widescreen is projecting an image on to a chip that is actually at 4:3 ratio and the parts of the sensor that are  not exposed to light are redundant. So what you have to do is find out the width e.g. 35mm and then do the calculation with a 16:9 ratio to give you the correct height for your film back width and height.

This leaves room for error and thus bad results on the user’s part.

So, back to my question/request

Is there a definitive list of film back widths and heights for cameras?

I do have project specific camera and lens 35mm lens conversion kit that I need to emulate and can give more details on request.

Complicated I know

But thanks for the help

I was looking around and found some info that might be useful.

1/6" CCD - width 2.333mm  height 1.6mm
1/3" CCD - width 4.667mm  height 3.2mm
1/2" CCD - width 7mm         height 4.8mm
2/3" CCD - width 9.333mm  height 6.4mm

I made a few *.cam files for them.  If you put them in your Data\Camera Types folder with the other *.cam files you can access them in the camera type pulldown.  I also included one *.cam file for the Panasonic PV-GS250 because that's what I use.

Hope this helps some.

Here is a samll perl script,
to export ascii tracks to combustion
for import via the tracker.
Was written on Mac OS X...
It will export the currently selected track into the same directory as the footage (only works on one track at a time for now)
Still needs a little tweeking, but it works

Also have a stand alone script (not attached) that will convert rz2 files
to multile ascii tracks
