Hey, I'm a heavy user of Matchmover but just cannot get this shot to work.  I've been working on it for over 20 hours and am getting no where.  There is a heavy jerk in the middle of the shot which is leading to motion blur.  Included is my scene file, the original footage, and the geometry matte.  If anyone can give me feedback it would be greatly appreicated!!!!!  What am I doing wrong?@?!?!?!

Footage is located at: http://studentpages.scad.edu/~glochn20/random/24A.rar

hi

yep looks like a really difficult shot. i don't have the time to check your scenefile.. just checked the plate but i can suggest our tracking service (shameless self advertising ;) ) if everything else fails. it's our job to solve the shots which cannot be solved by the studios itself.

good luck,

basti

Hi,

I think i obtained a satisfying result.
Not all tracks have a good residual but the camera path seems closer to reality.
He needs to be enhanced but it may help you anyway.

I added few more hard tracks near the camera and let the calibration engine refine the focal length.

Let me know if it helps!

Regards,

Niko

Wow, I'm in awe.  Looks pretty good, a little bit of sliding but I think I can take care of that.  So mainly what I was doing wrong is not having enough track markers in foreground, midground and background?

I assume it didn't understand the paralax in the shot because there wern't markers in all distances of the shot.  Can you confirm my theory?

Thanks again for all the help!

just following along here. You guys aren't placing markers manually here right (excepted maybe for a few obvious corners/objects?)?
Some of them look like they might have been placed by the software rather than manually as they do not follow very discernable geometries or edges (e.g track 39)... Plus you guys are using masks which is not needed if all markers are placed manually.

So were all these markers placed manually?

Wouldn't placing a planar constraint on the markers that belong to the ground

help the tracking?
