ideally not too expensive.  I just want something that I can make linear movies with.

I just started using IM, it really is particular about things. As I have an Intel mac I hope to try out windows on it, and maybe Realviz license will let me try out PC version to see if speed increase?

At any rate my imediate issue, is importing the model into another application.

Cheetah3D seems to import "obj" files but does not bring in the images. Does anyone elase have ideas?

Hello David,

With .obj you'll get objects and textures, not the cameras, not the images associated to camera, not the points.
The full export table is here : http://www.realviz.com/products/im/exports.php

What do you mean by images ?
Textures ? or the original Images ?

1) If textures: try to move the .obj and the .mtl file in the same directory as the textures. Update the path to the materials into the .mtl file.
Some application does not like having the textures in a folder...

2) If camera images: choose in the export list, an export with "camera" checked.

Hope it helps,

Stef

I don't do a lot of this so my terminology is a little off.

Thanks for your suggestions, I tried dropping everythign in shte same directory and updating the path in the MTL file (using text edit and find and replace). Did not seem to change the results when opening with Cheetah3D.

Any suggestions for other applications?

Hello David,

I went to the cheeta user forum, and there is a post telling that Cheetah is not reading .mtl files (so no materials can be imported in cheetah coming from obj files).

www.cheetah3d.de/forum/showthread.php?t=589

Cinema4D is not supported but should read Lighwave files we export...

Best,

Stef
