IM & SceneWe@ver Integration & Workflow

Hello,

I am trying to come up with a workflow for several projects in which I think we could use RealViz products.

Essentially we'd like to create both 3D neighbourhoods and 3D house interiors with a combination of photographs and already modeled 3D objects (in 3DS file format).

Given that we already have many existing pieces we'd like to use, I'm looking for 'building' software that can help us put all the pieces together while still using photographic backgrounds and rooms where possible.

In Image Modeler can you add 3D models in OBJ format to  a scene or can that only be done in SceneWeaver? Is there any way in IM to use objects that were not created from pictures in that individual file?

Can you create an outdoor scene (or an indoor room) in SceneWeaver  that is an odd shape (e.g., a non-cubical shaped room or a long roadway - is there any way to pan the road) A perfect example was one of your game case studies where the buildings were actually modeled in IM, but then it says you put together the scene in 3D Studio - is there any way around using 3D Studio for that kind of project?

I'd love to see/hear about anybody that has tackled similar projects! Many thanks for any insight,

Hello,

Yes, like in SceneWeaver you can import OBJ's (textured or not) into ImageModeler,
and place them, as you would do for the IM's primitives, in your calibrated scene.

I guess, 3DS was used mainly as it does rendering and animation (IM does not).
You could use any other animation package in addition to IM (not SW for this purpose).

Bye,

Stef
