» » mcah | Well, it's a fun addition, but not too serious, since I can't reasonably control the size of my final VR...somehow (according to the help files) you set the size of the VR according to the view in the viewport (in a different way than setting the final window size?). So it depends on window size? It would be nice to have help files that did more than list the contents of a dialog box, instead of having to spend 2 hours doing test renders to discover what specific relation the FOV fields have to the position of the image. It would also be nice to have a progress bar instead of spinning ball. |
mcah | oh, i forgot to note: the FOV settings, as far as i can tell (after 6 test renders) have NO effect on the final output! I set my initial view, and then made 6 attempts to vary the different fields. The output was the same every time. My last render terminated in a hung application. |
stef | Hello mcah,
Every comments on IM (good and bad one) are welcome here; but talking about Realviz as Company and about developpers has nothing to do in this forum please. About Object Movie output:
- Size : the active viewport is used to initialise the render ratio, but you can change the size in the export dialog. The thing that is missing, is a "keep ratio" option, that allows to keep the ratio when changing width or heigth of the output.
- FOV : I have just tested changing the fov in the active viewport, and the renders were ok. Be sure you change the fov with Zoom tool (not Dolly) and that your vieport is the one active when exporting.
Best regards,
Stef |
mcah | hi stef -
you're absolutely right; sorry for my rants.
i'll give your suggestions a try when i get a chance.

mcah | stef, i know i promised not to rant, but i have to say that this program is driving me nuts. am i the only one? here's my latest discovery: my models in version 4 (and, God forbid, perhaps the ones i built laboriously in version 3.55 and used in a published paper) somehow "lose" their calibration measurements over the course of modeling. Thus two out of four models i just finished in v. 4 had reset the calibration measurement to 1 meter without my having ever gone back to the calibration tab. I only realized it when exporting to dxf. I have done 30 or so architectural models like this, and i follow the same sequence of operations each time.
any suggestions?
thanks |
stef | Hello,
Can you change the ref distance back to your old values ? without scene scaling ?
The best, for this case is to contact support@realviz.com (I suggest you call them) so we get a better chance to identify the pb.
Best,
Stef |
mcah | hi stef -
i was able to reset the values for the two that slipped. the rest, thankfully, had not slipped before the dxf export. i will be building more models soon and will thus have a larger sample size to work with - i'll pay careful attention to the workflow to see if i can reproduce the problem. |
