Before using IM, I thought I have good SLR camera :) (Nikon D50 + Nikkor 18-70mm)
But I can't get good enough calibration especialy in wide angle. Everything work well only with IM examples ;) so I'm thinking about optics correction before loading them to IM, maybe Panorama Tools based software like PTLens can help ?

thanks

Hello,

With very wide angle, IM will have problem to resolve the distortion parameter (it uses only one radial distortion parameter).
But it should not be the case for your lens. I have the same with a D70 camera.
Have you set the distortion parameter (in the camera device associated to the camera) to be estimated (value = constant or variable) ?

Generally a good thing to do , is to precalibrate your internal parameters (disto and focal lenght) using a simple project easy to calibrate.
Check in the forum, there is already a post about that...
So the values obtained by this calibration, can be used as "known" parameters for further calibrations.

Best,

Stef
