At the IM videos, it seemed that the 3D objects can be created automaticaly by the program.
Is that true or the objects must me placed manually?

  Generally they have to be placed by hand. You create primitives, place them, split faces, extrude faces ...
There is an automatic meshing algorithm, that works with cloud of points (suited for organic shapes). The point themselves have to be created by hand.
