Hi all,
 
We are resellers for REALVIZ products. I need to clear a point about Image modeller  
 
Just like one is able to model an object using its photographs from all sides, can one also model a room from the inside. Can I click snaps of a room and actually have a 3d scene out of it, n how hard would that be. I mean is it advisable to do it  in IM. What way do I have to take my snaps to get the desired result.
 
That's my main query.
 
 
Also, for RealVIZ support, what does one have to do to install a licensed copy. I mean the FLEX id n stuff. Do write back at rconline@vsnl.com n let me know.

Hello,
 
  You can use whether Sceneweawer (for simple rooms) or Imagemodeler for more complex rooms and results.
 
Sceneweawer workflow:
 
- Create a panorama of your room (with Stitcher for example)
- Import the panorama in SceneWeawer
- Calibrate the panorama
- Place the walls and some simple objects in your room
- Extract the texture and export your model (shockwave, Wrml)
There is no real modeling in Sceneweawer,so  you can only deal with "simple" rooms.
 
Imagemodeler:
 
There is an example of a room in the Case Studies section of the realviz web site (NBC's Will & Grace) .
 
The main difficulty is to take the photographs so that enough features are shared among the shots.  The rule is : a marker (feature in your image) should be seen in at least 3 shots.
To handle this there are some independant tips:
- take enough shots to fullfill the "cover" rule (probably 8 to 10 shots)
- take shots at different heights
- add a central object in your room (in a sense, you are back in the "object" case you described above)
- use a wide angle camera lens (not a fish eye :-) ) to get more informations (features) in your shots
