When trying to export a scene running on MAC OSX 10.3.2 on a dual 2gig G5, 1gig ram - 128mb video Iam for instance offered a range of format choices, I select obj (going to cinema4D) I can then choose what I want to export from; cameras, locators, helpers, model. If I try to select say cameras the other options disapear leaving only cameras as a choice - but now  with the added irritant that I can't then actually choose it.  Is this a bug??

I bought ImageModeler with the Lightwave deal offfered by Newtek. It was a software that I needed for a job this spring and I had high hopes. Well, you can forget that. Image modeler is going back into the closet till the get it fixed.

ImageModeler in Mac OS X is the buggiest, piece of software I have ever used. I call them about the same issue you are having. They said they are aware of it and are working to solve the problem. The guy from Realviz said it wouldn't affect the export. How the heck does he figure that if you can't even touch one of the radio buttons without the whole thing dissappearing!

I have gone throught the tutorials a dozen times. I am now down to trying to model a simple cube and export textures that don't look like they have been run through a blender. No luck. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Also, when Realviz says they are working on a solution, keep in mind that it will be in "dog years" (multiply by seven). :x

I am reaching the same conclusion - however there are aspects of the application which I known would be useful.  Did you find the responsiveness of the application slow and clunky.  Click and wait.  I have tried the demo Windoze version and it runs quite well - certainly beter than the Panther version as it is being called.  Have you had any regrets over Lightscape - I decided on C4D and It has been great.

Hello,

We are really working on it. This problem (export dialog) has been brought to us 2 weeks ago for the first time. We have limited resources and need a little bit time to solve it, but we will do it.

Best regards,

Stef

I firmly believe in the potential of ImageModeller to add to the productive capacity of my office.  Platform related issues are difficult to predict from a developers perspective.  Despite these problems my dealings with Realviz to date have convinced me that they value my opinion and will endeavour to deliver value for money.  - It must be borne in mind that Panther is an OS designed ultimately for a 64bit environment, running often on 32 bit platforms supporting 32 bit applications, this is not an ideal context.  With technological advances running out ahead as fast as they are there a bound to be tears before bedtime.

I was not in avery good mood when i posted my first message. I had spent all day working on exporting a plain cube with textures and it still doesn't work consistently.

I have been a user of Stitcher for years. It has always been sluggish on my mac. Some of the buttons within the application are still in French. I just think Realviz's quality control needs a boost.

I still hope Imagemodeler will be of some help. Matching model perspectives to actual site photos will help me if i can get the hang of it.

There was a program called Canoma several years ago that was bought by Adobe and deep sixed. It only worked in os 9, but was easy to use. It also exported quicktime movies. I wish that ImageModeler was as intitive to use as Canoma.

I have just scratch the surface in Lightwave. Not using it for a lot of modeling, mainly rendering of models made in SketchUp-real simple stuff right now.

Five months later...

Still have the same bug and no update. But a new version has come out and it looks like I have to pay full-price for it instead of an upgrade price All for a piece of software that I could barely use because of a bug that RealViz admitted to in this post.

Way to go RealViz. Thank you.

I've been a stitcher (os x) user for years and now imagemodeler, and can say without question that realviz software is the crappiest written software i've ever encountered. ALAS, the realviz fellows write stuff we can't do without, and so we're obliged to use it. But OH for a little more quality control! For better UI compatibility! For better memory management (the number of times Stitcher used to grind my hd into the ground looking for more memory). Alas, the same is proving true with imagemodeler. I've got 3.5, and am pissed that I'm told that a nice $500 upgrade will fix my problems. Why can't Realviz sell software that WORKS WELL? It works enough to keep you coming back for more...frustration. Ca suffit!

I forgot to mention my favorite bug - the fact that you can only occasionally save. This has caused my to lose a ton of work, because if you want to save when using the modeling tools, you have to make sure you've de-selected all objects before the save command will work. So silly...

I confirm. I also loosed 2 weeks of intensive efforts trying to make ImageModeler 3.5 work on a 2*2GHz with 1GO RAM. Now i'm late for my diploma in architecture and took thousands of pictures in a foreign country for nothing. I had memory bugs, application crashes, interface bugs, conflict with other applications' windows, infinite loops… I noticed that the CPU was used in a strange erratic way and that only 1 processor seemed to be involved. The whole importation->visualisation->calibration->modeling->export process was SLOW (i had time to lunch between 2 mouseclics). This even with only 2 images less than 1024*768px and less than 12 markers. having a Radeon 9800pro VPU changes nothing. Adapting processes priority changes nothing.
How could REALVIZ sell such product ? Now i only expect they make a special offer  for a good update, or a least that they apologize for selling a beta version as if it was a pro-like software. I don't want my money back, i want they use it not for advertisement but for quick and clean debugging. Is that possible ?

funny: ImageModeler 3.5 for Windows works very well on 2*G5 with Virtual PC, and even faster than on the Pentium4 machines that are the info-pool of my school.
