HI. Just got IM and export a simple cube textured in IM.
I tried lws and get "Wrong File structure" in Cinema.
I tried opening the lws and get "Fileformat unknown"
I tried wrl and the scene is opening but no objects, textures are loaded.
I tried obj, the scene open but again no objects show up.

The scene is -very- simple. A single cube done and textured in IM.
The cube represents a table top.

It seems as I miss a fundamental step somehow.

Anyone working with IM and Cinema that might have a working workflow to tell about?

I'm running IM 4 and Cinema 9.521 on a Mac.

Cheers

I redid the scene in IM for the fourth or fifth time "doing the same".
The only difference I'm aware of was that I first saved the IM itself
before doing any exports.
I can now open wrl and lws, only thing being the scene is upside down in Cinema. I guess I can I can change that in IM, can I ?

Hello,

IM uses "direct" coordinate systems like Maya or 3DS Max.
Z = x ^ y  ;  Y = z ^ x     ;  X = y ^ z

Try to change your coord system, whether in C4D (if possible to change the direct/indirect rule) or in IM:
Use the Worldspace Tool, and inverse your Up axis Y (Y is the up axis by default; this can be changed in the preferrences).

Hope it helps,

Stef

Hm. Ok the Y up is solved but I still do have problems IM not writing a "correct" .wrl file on export.

When I first start a project and export it it is empty in Cinema.
Re-doing the (same)project once or a couple of times, all of a sudden a good wrl file -is- exported. I don'r see anything I do different on each try.

Saving or not the IM file makes no difference.

An indication (in Finder of OSX) if a wrl file is good or not after a export, is if it has gotten a proper Icon or not. In my machine I have Wing installed and that is the Icon given to a wrl file.
If no Icon, it is just a document symbol, and it will open empty.
The textures are in all tries correct.

Please let me know what to look for and /or if anyone recognize this type of problem.

Cheers
