Hello,

 I'm a happy MAX user ;) I can't live without MAX modeling tools, so I tried to export rough model from IM to MAX, but there comes two problems:

1) It seems to me that I can't export calibrated camera's images from IM, so I must use original photos in MAX backrounds, so I can't model accurately.
2) I also can't go back to IM with my detailed model (obj, dwg),
   - Models are jumping in space, even appears in two different places at once (looking through different cameras they are in oposite sides of main object)
    - After some time catching them and puting in place, I get problems with texture extraction (main thing why i returned to IM). I select all one side faces of object but only ~50% was textured, other appeared black. After reselction "black" faces and retexturing I can get beteer results, but i need one texture...
   - Sometimes model "jumps" to another place when texturing is requested, and i get some background projected on my model :(

Is there any suggestions in my workflow ? What formats to use, maybe there is a way to export lens distortion corrected images ?

using MAX 8 SP3, IM 4.0.3

thanks

Hello,

  There might be a way to get the undistorted images in Max.
==> Try the snapshot function, that renders the scene of a viewport.
Be locked on a camera, remove all display objects (keep only image) and render snapshot (with the size of the original image).
The result will be an undistorted image (relative to calibrated camera) that might better fit in your Max viewport background.

I suggest to use .obj files rather than .dwg files, as .dwg format is very destructive for the geometry and topology of your objects...
If some .obj are not importing correctly, please send them to support@realviz.com.

The imported objects are created in their own space, they generally need to be replaced in an IM scene.

Hope it helps,

Stef
