| A quick post to see how to bevel edges in version 3.5? It used to be easy in 3.0 and its important for certain shapes we use - such as the top of telephone boxes.
Also, i notice the extrude along path has gone as well, how would say a mug handle be made without the path tool?
Cheers

| Hey Smithe, thi si sthe question I asked also (never worked on 3, went directly to 3.5 and in the book they say No more bevel
No More Mirror
No more extrude along path
I use Lightwave everyday and those tools are very important for some shapes, yes like mugs handle, or I tohught about curced banisters.... also the mirror tool, terrible, do they expect me to remodel twice the things ???
I am like you , we need an answer...!

Maybe i've missed something, but without the path and bevel tools how am i meant to create smooth edges to boxes or handles?
Got a project to work on and its almost worth going back to 3.0.
Any advice or help?
Cheers

| Hi Smithee, Hi Steff,
To help you in your current work, some proposal for workarounds:
- Mirror: duplicate object + edit the pivot point + negative scaling on one of the axis + inverse normals
- bevel faces: can be done with several extrude + rescale - extrude along path: several extrude + rotate (you already used this, I guess)
Except for bevel tool, we identified those tools as "buggy" and "difficult to use" tools of IM3.0 . Those tools need first improvements on our side, and are for sure good candidates for the next versions of IM.
Thanks again for your feedback,
Stef |
| I could deal without bevel and mirror (good workaround BTW Stef), but the workaround for extrude along a path is so so..... I know how to deal with this (you said it, bot forgot the move.... so that's 3 commands for one step)
1-extrude
2-move
3-rotate
This is a long route man..... I hope to see an upgrade with those tools back in game......... |
