Hi,

I'm hoping I can figure out how to model cars from just
photos with a carpenters square laid next to the car.
(The square would give me a good right angle and
XZ axes)

Now I'm trying to model my own car, and I was thinking
about putting little white dots all over it with fresh Carnauba Wax.

Any other suggestions on how to quickly capture the shape of
others peoples cars?  Maybe ones in parking lots, where they
might not like me putting little dots all over them?

I was wondering about a laser projector that would project
a bright grid pattern.  This would help grab contours.  Anybody
know of such a device, or have a better solution?

Thanks
Scott

Hello Scott,

Using markers on the car is generally a good solution if you can do it of course.

For quicker and better calibration, I would suggest to add calibration markers on the roof of the car.
Do not put "flat" markers, because you never see them on the top of the car.
Use dice for example, and put them on the four corners of your car's roof.
Those markers + those placed on the ground, allows generally to get a perfect and quick calibration.
