About the 3ds Max plug-in

On the CD-ROM of ImageModeler 3.5  you will find included a 3DS Max Plug-in.
The [rzmlexp] plug-in supports exporting of objects from 3ds max 4 and 5 into REALVIZ ImageModeler via the REALVIZ RZI format.

FEATURES

The plug-in supports the following:

1-Meshes and NURBS surfaces: Meshes will be exported as they appear in 3ds max. NURBS will be tesselated according to the settings in the "surface approximation" rollout.
2-UV coordinates: In the form of native UVW coordinates or 3ds max UVW modifiers such as "UVW Map", as long as all coordinates are on map channel
3-Most mesh modification modifiers: such as Meshsmooth, Xform, Bend and others.
4-Creation of materials with Bitmap textures: bitmap texture needs to be in Targa (TGA) or Jpeg (JPG) format, mapped to "Explicit Map Channel", on Map Channel 1.

  It does not support:

1-Animation
2-Some modifiers (if something does not work, try: a- converting the object to a mesh by right-clicking on it and selecting "convert to mesh" from the quad menu; b- Selecting the object and selecting "collapse" from the utilities menu and then "collapse to mesh", and c- add a "convert to mesh" modifier on top of object's stack)
3-Materials are only supported as a means of applying a bitmap. Changes to implicit mapping properties such as tiling and offset are not supported. Environment textures, transparency and such are not supported.
4-Standalone Splines and NURBS are not supported, but surfaces derived from them are.

WORKFLOW:

If you use 3ds max to refine a scene initially modeled within REALVIZ ImageModeler 3.5, make sure you delete the scene in ImageModeler before re-importing its refined version.

Don't hesitate to contact us if you have problems locating this plug-in.

Hello Oguz,

I have tested with Viz 4 and it worked fine.
Put the plugin files (.dle) in the plugins folder of your Viz installation.

Best

Stef
